These PE games for Bonfire Night will help you light up your PE lessons with minimal equipment and maximum excitement. ### **Rocket Tag** This is a perfect starter activity for your bonfire night PE lesson. Choose two or three children to be "rockets”. Their role is to act as taggers and try to tag as many of the other children as possible. Everybody else can run and dodge anywhere around the space to avoid the “rockets”. If tagged, children must freeze in a rocket pose. To be freed, another child must count down “3...2...1…blast off!” and gently tap them. Give the “rockets” 2 minutes to make as many tags as possible. After 2 minutes, pick different children to be “rockets” and start a new game. ### **Firework Freeze** The idea in this game is that children move around the space using firework-themed actions to music. These can include: - Sparklers – children take quick, zigzag steps - Catherine wheels – children spin around - Rockets – children take vertical jumps with arms raised above the head When the music stops, children should strike their best fireworks pose. To make it more challenging, encourage children to think of their own actions when moving about the space. ### **Firework Fitness Hunt** In pairs, children hunt for hidden firework cards around the hall or playground. Each card contains a mini challenge: - 5 sparkler jumps (star jumps) - Rocket jumps to the sky (jump as high as possible in a straight shape) - Plank countdown from 10 - Skip to the nearest wall and back This activity can be made competitive by pairs racing against each other. The first pair to complete all four challenges are the winners.
