Hitting a ball off a cone is a progression towards hitting a moving ball. It is easier to hit a ball off a cone because it is stationary, and the ball is raised slightly, reducing the chance the pupil will hit the floor during the swing.

Hitting a ball from a cone is a great way to differentiate striking and fielding games, allowing pupils the chance to develop their striking skills in an isolated way while still participating in a game. Once children can hit from a cone, they can develop into hitting a dropped ball and then a bowled ball. Our batting resource can act as a visual aid for teachers and pupils.
