Teaching Points

Tabata is the name for a type of workout which is four-minutes long consisting of 8 rounds of 20 seconds of work at maximum effort, followed by 10 seconds of rest.

Working out the whole body – there are many benefits of working out the whole body each time we exercise rather than just focusing on one area like legs.  Whole-body workouts have the following benefits

  • Improves coordination
  • Uses lots of energy (burns calories)
  • Stops us getting bored due to the variety of activities
  • Means all parts of our body are becoming strong and flexible

Key Questions

  1. What were the main muscles used in the thrusters?
  2. What areas of fitness can yoga poses help us with?
  3. Can you explain why whole-body workouts are important?
