PE Games for Pancake Day
Pancake Day isn’t just about tasty treats; it’s also the perfect chance to bring some themed physical activity into your PE lessons. Pancake Relays
Equipment: beanbags and tennis rackets
How to play:
Split the class into four equal teams. Children travel from one end of the hall/playground to the other while balancing a pancake on a racket. They then pass the pancake to the next child, who does the same. The first team to finish and be seated is the winner.
You could add challenges such as:
· Hop on one leg
· Crab walk
· Side-shuffle
· Spin once at the halfway point
· Flip the pancake before returning
Pancake Day Themed Fitness Circuit
To set up, download, print and cut the different pancake-themed activity stations from the free download below. Place the various stations around the hall and split the class into even groups at each station. Each group should spend 30-60 seconds at each station before moving on to the next.
Pancake Stations:
1. Chocolate jumps – Two feet to two feet jump over a small obstacle.
2. Whisk It – Stretch arms out to the side and make arm circles.
3. Flip it– Perform a straight jump from all fours.
4. Squeeze and stretch – Straight jump into a crouched position to touch toes.
5. Melt the butter – Jogging on the spot.
6. Syrup sprint – Short shuttle sprints to collect a cone, and stack them when they return.
7. Sake and shimmy dance – Shake the shoulders whilst moving in a circle.
