A chest pass is a fast and flat pass, used over shorter distances to move quickly around the court. The skill of chest passing is useful for handball, netball and basketball.

Chest Pass Teaching Points

  • Grip: Spread fingers wide behind the ball.
  • Position: Keep elbows relaxed with the ball close to the chest.
  • Weight Transfer: Shift weight from the back foot to the front foot as you pass.
  • Push: Straighten arms and push the ball away from the chest.
  • Follow Through: Finish with fingers pointing towards the target.
