The correct partner grip in counterbalance work is important to ensure safety and stability, allowing both gymnasts to support each other effectively without risk of slipping or losing balance. Counterbalance Teaching Points

  • Body tension is required for a counterbalance to be successful; muscles should be tight.
  • Hand grip should be around partner's wrist
  • The Limbs, back, and torso should be straight and extended.
  • Move slowly in and out of balance
  • Start with wider bases to make balances easier and more stable.
  • Communicate with your partner to agree on when to move.
