The scissor jump is used to jump for height. Being able to perform a confident scissor jump is a prerequisite for proper high jump technique that pupils will learn in secondary school. The resource is suitable for different age groups and abilities.

Scissor Jump Teaching Points
- Approach the jump at an approximately 30-degree angle
- The body should be side onto the obstacle
- Take off from the foot furthest away from the obstacle
- The leg nearest the bar travels over first
- ALWAYS LAND ON FEET
- Pupils should drive up the lead leg with a bent knee
- If they take off on the wrong foot, swap sides to see if that helps
