Skill - One Handed Bounce

During primary school PE, pupils should be allowed to develop physical literacy and fundamental skills, such as bouncing the ball with one hand.

Teaching Points for one handed bounce

  • Stand with feet shoulder-width apart with knees slightly bent
  • Use your fingers to push the ball downward, not the palm of the hand
  • Apply enough force to ensure the ball bounces back to a comfortable height, ideally waist level
  • Keep your eyes on the ball
  • Aim for a steady and consistent bounce
