A rainbow pass in volleyball is a high, arched pass that travels in a curved trajectory, resembling the shape of a rainbow. It is typically performed with a throw (in the developing game) with a forearm pass (bump) or overhead pass (set), depending on the situation.

Why would you play a rainbow pass?
- The rainbow pass is when the team use one of their 3 contacts to pass the ball to each other
- The rainbow pass is is a high, looping pass which buys time for players to organise themselves into advantageous positions
- A rainbow pass can be used when you need to move to ball a distance on the court e.g. from back to front ready for an attacking shot
