Year 4 Dodgeball Rules

Players

  • 6 players per team.

Timings

  • Each game lasts 2 minutes.

How to Win

  • Eliminate all players on the other team, or
  • Have more players left when the timer ends.

Start of Play

  • 3 balls placed on the centre line.
  • The left-side ball belongs to your team.
  • Either team can go for the centre ball. Getting Players Out Hits
  • You're out if hit by a live ball (one that hasn’t touched the floor or wall).

Catches

  • Catching a live ball: – The thrower is out. – One teammate from your outbox (the one out the longest) returns to play.

Blocking

  • You can use a ball in your hands to block throws.

Lines

  • Stay within the court boundaries.
  • If you collect a ball off-court, return through your team’s backline.
  • Players must return from behind the back line when they have gone to collect a ball.

Stalling

  • Teams with 2 or 3 balls must attempt a throw.
  • When a referee calls 'Play Ball', teams have 5 seconds to throw.
  • Players holding balls after 5 seconds will be called out.
  • Teams may keep one ball and must throw the others.
