Pulse Rasing Tabatas

Tabata is the name for a type of workout which is four-minutes long consisting of 8 rounds of 20 seconds of work at maximum effort, followed by 10 seconds of rest.

Tabata 1 – KS1 & KS2

  • 20 seconds of star jumps
  • 10 seconds rest

Complete this 8 times

Rest for 2 – 3 minutes

Tabata 2 – KS1 & KS2

  • 20 seconds of burpees
  • 10 seconds rest

Supporting ideas

  • You will require a stopwatch, it is best to have someone timing who is not taking part so they can count the children in.
  • During the 20 seconds of work try not to stop, even if the jumps are slow, keep jumping!
  • Adjust the rest time to suit but try and stick to the classic Tabata timing as is proven to increase fitness!
