Skill - Two Handed Bounce

During primary school PE, pupils should be allowed to develop physical literacy and fundamental skills, such as bouncing the ball with two hands.

Check out the video demonstrating the skill of bouncing with two hands - this activity can be extended and differentiated by bouncing different types of balls.

Tow handed bounce with ball

The non bouncing hand should be ready and poised to receive the rising ball

Teaching Points for two handed bounce

  • Stand with feet shoulder-width apart with knees slightly bent
  • Use your fingers to push the ball downward, not the palm of the hand
  • Apply enough force to ensure the ball bounces back to a comfortable height, ideally waist level
  • The non bouncing hand should be ready and poised to receive the rising ball
  • Keep your eyes on the ball
  • Aim for a steady and consistent bounce alternating between both hands
